To learn C++? I've been reading C++ For Dummies but for someone with a slight learning disability (I had brain surgery some time ago and it seemingly hurt my learning ability) it doesn't sound like the book will be of much help learning it. I know it's a hard thing to learn, but what else can I do to learn it besides this Dummies book? What other books are good? Don't mention school, I have too much debt to try to work off before I can think about attending classes.

Well some of those books just do not teach well. So it may not be a disability. w3schools and cplusplus.com have some good resources.

I hate to say I learned c++ in class.

unless you're stuck with c++, why not go with something like c# or java? still object-oriented, but will cause less headaches than pointers, etc.

c++ is great, but if you just want to learn how to program, you'll get off to a much faster start with c#/java.

best of luck...

Well then it looks like your options are limited if you can't go to school. Sorry about your disability but maybe you should see a neurologist to see if there are any classes or therapy you can go to, to improve your memory. I hope this helps.
