Well, I cant imagine anyone being nasty or rude to you about your situation so if you do get any negative comments lend it all to ignorance and forget it. As far as what you are going through (and I have seen this in the past but not been in the situation my self) this is a very unfortunate place to be in right now. It sounds like you need to get yourself a good lawyer. Explain the situation to him/her and let them help your boyfriend get visitation rights. If he is the kids father then he has every right to be a part of his life. Even if he left he can tell the lawyer why he left and that he is in a better place right now. You may not be able to fight for custody at first just visitation rights, but its a place to start. Worse yet, YOU have nothing to do with this. Since you are not married to this man the child is between him and his ex. You just need to be a shoulder for him to cry on and a backbone for him if he needs one. This is a very hard time for all parties involved right now and it will not resolve itself quickly but make sure that everything is done legaly and soon enough everything will work out for the best. Good luck, I wish you all the best for the sake of the child.

okay, this is really his battle, you have really got to stay out of it. Support him yes, but as a single mum whose ex has a new girl, I know only too well how much crap the new girlfriend can cause. I know you absolutly don;t mean to, but you just being there will cause her to act up. He needs to deal with this alone.
