how about try singing walking down the street. Then move to singing in deparment stores loudly enough for everyone to her you, then sing on the roof top, then ask to sing in a nursing home. Old people will love you even if you sound horrible and they'd love to see a fresh face.

It's hard to get over stage fright, believe you me. I had stage fright my entire life until the last 2 years. There is really no way to control it but as you get older, that fear will go away and you will be able to sing in front if anyone! I just won a karaoke contest a few months back and that was 2 months of singing once a week in front of tons of people! Deep breaths, keep your friends in your sights to make you feel comfortable, and KNOW your material inside and out. When you know what you are doing, it makes it much easier. Good luck sweetie!

Have a friend sing with you for the first couple of times until you feel comfortable. Another thing to do is have a friend in the audience and concentrate on that person. Maybe even one in a few different spots. That way you can look at them and not all the other people in the audience that are unfamiliar to you. Good luck with your singing career.

when i was in school i had a communications class and there was people who had fear of being in front of large groups of people and to help them, on the first day they went into another room and did a one on one thing and everyday we just kept adding another person, in two weeks they where talking infront of 14 people with no problems because they built it up. not sure if it helps with singing but it would be a fun way to get friends together and meet new poeple along the way

This is how I did it. Start going to Karaoke as often as you can. Get up and sing with other people, start with a group, work your way down to singing with one other person and before you know it, you will WANT to get up by yourself. The more you do it the easier it becomes.
Hope this helps.

Me I take a shot or two of Crown to loosen up. lol. Other than that having familiar supportive faces in the crowd could help also.

When I sing in front of large audiences, I just look just above people's heads, or if I look someone in the face, I either look at their foreheads or their chins, I never look them in the eye, because it seems to distract me.

My choir director once told me to look at a place in the back of the auditorium just above the heads of the audience.....It helped me.
