Hi Eve,

Some signal will penetrate wood and roofing but the signal strength is greatly reduced inside. You would likely lose your signal in the slightest rain. It just wasn't designed to be used that way.

when we were apartment dwellers and they were putting up new balconies we had to bring our dish inside and it worked fine..granted it was near the sliding door and such but the signal was great
