having lived in Arkansas, Iowa, and Philly i can tell you, you can find rednecks in any state, any city, any country just look around.
now, as for as Arkansas. south of little rock, its mostly delta farm land or swamps. sometimes both.
but north of little rock about forty miles or so you start rolling through the foothills of the Ozarks. and i believe a nature person has to be impressed. i've visited over thirty states and seven countries, i get goose bumps " in them there hills".
there are several wonderful lakes. my personal favorite is located about an hour north of little rock. it's called greers ferry lake. it has everything from water skiing, to scuba diving, and fishing.
this area also offers lots of rock climbing a rappelling, if that's your thing.
you will see a "flea market" every quarter mile or so. i can't explain that "it just is". hope this helps

Good hiways, great state parks, beautiful scenery. State is economically depressed, not good job market, low wages and incomes in general, but cost of living tends to be a bit lower than average. Red Neck is relative - there are a lot of confed flags on pick ups, especially in the rural areas, but it's hardly border to border white hicks in coveralls with shotguns and white sheets hanging with their Sunday best.

P.S. Awesome geology if you're into that sort of thing.

Nice hills, trees, and lakes. But if you start hearing banjo music, run as fast as you can. Maybe wear chain mail underwear. Bring a cousin to make out with to fit in to the local scenery.
