Just got broadband and Xbox live (I am old, and fear change), seems to be populated exclusively by caffeine-fuelled teenagers with the reaction speeds of hummingbirds. Does anybody just bum around on this thing? p.s. I'm playing Burnout Revenge on Xbox360. I'm afraid that it was a lot more fun before other human beings got involved...

Give it some time and try different games, as that game for some reason screams annoying teenager on the Xbox Live. Once you've built up a friends list you can be more selective in the people you play with. Sometimes I find it easier to play without a mic, but then again I'm easily annoyed and feel that there should be special servers for people 21 and over.

Ha, I know how you feel. I used to think I was good at games until online gaming became commonplace and I had my *** handed to me on several occasions. Some of the players are just so good it's unreal and verging on superhuman reflexes.

I don't even have my old Xbox anymore though and I've never had one of the newest generation systems. But I still play computer games online all the time. Just keep playing and posting around on message boards and stuff and you should find a group that you can play with well.

Hi fella whats this I am old bit then. I am the wrong side of 60 and still kicking butt. You are only just getting started and it is tough for a while, remember most of these guys have been playing a while and know every course. If any top F1 driver went to a new course it would take time to learn it. Give yourself a chance you will get better. Just don't play games like World of Warcraft, they are more addictive than smoking. You're only as old as you feel get in there and whup these young pretenders. Good Luck.

The online gamers you will find in most games are hard core players . And a very competitive group . More so on the Xbox line of games. There are computer games that you can play and interact with players from around the world that are not as demanding and you can go at your own pace . Just look around at some of the sites that have information on MMO's and i am sure that Xbox will release similar games for people who want a slower paced game

Hence the friends list.

Try to make friends with people who are easygoing or better yet any people in real life that play 360 as well.

Once you've got friends on your list you don't need to worry and just have fun. Of course you can always just go into player matches (ranked ones tend to be very competitive, player matches don't count for stats)

Also look at gamefaqs.com message boards or any other gaming website and see if you can find people there.

i'm in the same situation as you with the xbox....the best thing to do is play your game on your own until you are brilliant, then go on xbox live multiplayer, and when you've beat some of these young ones and hear how upset they get through the headset it's a pretty good feeling. download lost planet demo on xbox live, this is a multiplayer demo. i did a week ago. at first i got shot to bits now i'm hooked and love it.....good luck
