Game Genie for the new snes?

Does the game genie not work for the slimer newer design for the snes?

Nintendo only made one kind of Super Nintendo Entertainment System cartridge. As far as i know they made only to different versions of the SNES. The original and the newer design witch is curved. So think about it if the games fit in either one the game genie should work. I have a few SNES's but i dont have the new one so just because the game genie fits it still may not work. I realized that one of my SNES's wont work with the game genie but my other ones would. The one that wouldnt work was manufactured more recently than the other ones.
