We took our two year old to Legoland in January, he loved it! That is close to Sea World (he liked that, too), the San Diego Zoo and San Diego Wild Animal Park ... and only an hour from Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm, and an hour and a half from Universal Studios.
We live in Hawaii, he did fine on the 5 hour flight to LA.

Orlando is a good place(or just in Florida anywhere) but not necesarrilly because of Disney World or Universal. Those may be too much for a toddler. I would see a good vacation as somewhere that has plenty of options for not much money so if the toddler becomes cranky or what you're doing doesn't hold his attention then you can head back the resort and put him down. In Orlando, there is plenty to do and some very nice beaches are only an hour away, which if I know cranky todllers, they'll be sleeping within 5 minutes of the car ride. And then, if the child is up to it, you can go to a theme park and Disney has plenty of stuff for youngens.

I traveled alot when I was a kid and I enjoyed everywhere we went. Over the years I have found that I prefer to travel by cruise. Disney Cruise Lines (it did not exist when I was a kid and I have no kids of my own so I have not traveled with this cruise line) is geared towards children. However most of the other cruise lines ie: NCL, Princess, Carnival, Royal Carribean etc. all have programs for children and special areas for them to play in as well as programs where they will take the kids for a few hours so that you can have some adult time to your self too. The nice part about the cruise is that your food and entertainment is all inclusive so although the cruise itself may cost you a few bucks it will be cheeper than a hotel and all of your food and entertainment in the long run. Disney is one of the more expensive ones though so do your homework as to what you want to spend. The cheepets rates are durring Sept-Oct. I believe (and you will have to check with the cruise line) that you will not need a passport if you travel by sea before Jan of 2008. If you are not the type to try a cruise, my fondest memories are at Hershey Park PA. The lines for the rides are much shorter than most other amusement parks, and they are also geared toward children with plenty of things for adults to do. I hope you have fun on your vacation! Good luck.

you do not have any difficulty making a reservation at Disney or almost the different holiday spot 4-6 weeks ahead. (An expedia search for of a random 7 day era in mid-July grew to develop into up rather a lot 500 resorts with rooms accessible.) besides the undeniable fact that, i don't think of i could propose Disney global in July -- too warm and crowded for a preschooler. DisneyLAND may be an decision. Or any type of beachy position -- both the sea or a lake. babies this age usually love the sea coast. Or evaluate a city-damage -- massive cities like DC, lengthy island, San Diego, Boston and Chicago have youngster-pleasant museums, zoos, and massive parks the position babies can run round. And the inn can likely provide the call of a sturdy babysitting service in case you and hubby favor to flow out one evening for a marvelous dinner and/or a coach.

What your cash flow like? A lot of people will tell You Disney or another theme park but depending on your cash flow and because of the age of your child the simpler things could be better. What's important is building a lasting memory. You can just go close by and be happy. I took my kids to Baltimore, MD once and they loved it. We stayed a couple of days, went to the aquarium, on a boat ride, ate out, took lots of pictures and spent lots of time together. My 2nd oldest still talks about it and how much he wants to go back. Just remember right now it's about fun and adventure, especially when they are toddlers so make the best of it and Good Luck.
