Doesn't it just serve to show how stupid we are that we have to actually move our clocks forward rather than just adjust our schedules accordingly as needed (or not)?
Why does the government need to forcefully change the time?

only beldin: i am not questioning the need for time zones or the need for an established method of determining "time", i am merely stating that DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME is a stupid idea.

I agree, it is stupid. The original idea was to conserve energy.

Daylight savings was created during WWII so more energy could be conserved. After the war we obviously just kept it around. I do beleive that it was a good idea for the time since there was such a national crisis going on but the effectriveness today is questionable. I live in AZ though so i dont need to worry about it!

Well, given your argument, then we could say that everyone should just set their clocks by the sundial telling them when it's high noon. The problem is, it doesn't work.

The government established time zones because the railroads couldn't set their schedules based on local time. Changes like time zones and daylight savings time need to be universal to be effective, otherwise schedules for transportation get screwed up, and with nationwide and global commerce, times need to be set.
