e911 doesn't necessarily mean GPS. They just require a mechanism to be able to locate cellphone users whenever they call 911. Verizon and Sprint use GPS receivers in their phones to do this. Cingular (now AT&T) and T-Mobile don't always use GPS. They use a triangulation method from their cell sites to locate a cellphone user.
It will say on your phone if you have GPS capability. It is also displayed on your screen if your GPS receiver is currently on. It's the dart-board-bull's-eye symbol thing. You have the option to turn it off, although, it will automatically turn on if you dial 911.
You can go crazy with the uses for GPS on cellphones. Some use it for navigation. Parents can use it to locate their kids, but this feature is very restricted. Only the parents' phone can do it, and it's password protected. Sprint and Verizon offer phones for kids that have this option, and i'm sure kids who get these phones are not very thrilled about it.
Like any technology, it's good to have, but it's also bad to have. The good thing is, emergency personel can locate you very quickly in case of emergency. The bad... big brother.

It is not a conspiracy, these people are idiots.
It is only activated in a dire emergency. Such as:
1. Kidnapping
2. Someone calls 911 and does not know where they are
3. Phone gets stolen
In all these cases, the police of government have to go through a comprehensive system to figure out where the phone is...its not like it just pops up on the screen. Even for kidnappings, cops often have trouble getting the companies to cooaperate and give them the location.

NO they don't, it's a conspiracy by the government, so they can know where anybody is whenever they want to... They tried this with money too, the little strips in money, they can scan you or your house and see how much money you have. I think it's a privacy issue so I got rid of my celly. All they need now is to shoot rockets at us, and they can control us. Only a matter of time until they are wanting to brand us, with the mark of the beast and kill people that don't accept it. Something to think about...Cheers!
