Places like Dubai have a "gold quarter", or a "perfume suq". Why does every UK town seem to have an exotic "Estate Agent Quarter"?
Please help. This is one of the mysteries of my life.

Necessities come from "convenience" shops. Luxuries or high priced items are found at "comparison" shops. That is why you will find a jewellery quarter, a road or industrial complex featuring several new car dealers, or a part of a town where most of the estate agents are located.

By the way the correct collective noun for estate agents is a gazump! Kidding!

It so that only one area of town suffers a fall in value from having them as neighbours...

Seriously, it's because more people will traipse along a row of estate agents than walk all over town for them. It's reckoned to get more punters through the door.

I'm a realtor in Kansas City. We drink, golf, and watch sporting events together in herds. I guess realtors are click'ish. Don't hate on us, though.
