Writing and earning money are two different things. Earning money tends to be the result of a certain type of labor performed, while writing can be the labor that earns money. It is possible to earn money by writing, you just need to write material that people will pay to read or consume. Writing, in my opinion is much more fun than earning money, but earning or getting money is a must in order to survive and stay healthy.

If you're an author, you get paid to write! So if you want to do both, consider that. You don't have to write long, winding novels or anything like that! Write short poems or articles for magazines and newspapers. Keep trying, and you will succeed!

Best of luck!
