I'm going to go positive seeing as everyone else is highlighting the negativity. Africans are working hard, despite the corruption of their governments. They are planting crops and building schools and trying to make ends meet. They are making music and having babies and enjoying the warm weather. They are playing soccer and going to college to make a brighter future for themselves. They are eating healthy, very little genetically modified food there and inventing ingenious devices that will benefit the entire continent from mere pieces of scrap metal. They are sending their children to good colleges, enjoying a good retirement surrounded by family and immersed in a rich cultural heritage that has existed for centuries and centuries. Above all, a lot of them are normal working citizens who are just living ordinary lives. It's easy to see the negative because that's all they put in the news but there is a much bigger positive side that everyone ignores. I know. I am African. I have seen it.

Well certain parts of Africa, like Ghana and Rwanda (yes... Rwanda) are experiencing impressive economic growth, partly due to infrastructure deals and financing from China.
But overall, Africa still looks like crap.

AFRICA IS FALLING APART AT THE SEAMS. PEOPLE ARE BEATEN, RAPED, KILLED AND DISCRIMINATED AGAINST ON A DAILY BASIS JUST SO MILITANTS CAN CLAIM POWER. PLUS, BEING A POOR NATION DOESN'T REALLY HELP EITHER. PEOPLE OVER THERE ARE DYING OF PREVENTABLE AS WELL AS TREATABLE DISEASES (MALARIA, AIDS, ETC.). THAT IS ONE NATION WHERE WE AS A NATION COULD REALLY DO SOME GOOD IF WE WEREN'T SO PREOCCUPIED WITH TRYING TO RULE THE MIDDLE EAST.

Oh millions starving at the hands of their own government. Americans should be thankful instead of complaining about our Government so much. How would you like to live in these impoverished countrys?

try googling "current events in ------". choosing a particular country would be a good idea. your question is like asking "What's going on in Asia?"....depends on what country you're in.
