Yeah, but they aren't the white-sand-frolic-barefoot-in-the-waves
in-a-bikini type of places. They are the walk-along-in-the-brown-sand
in-a-warm-jacket-and shoes kind of beaches. You have to go south to do the beach-bunny thing.

There are actually several beaches in San Francisco, Ocean Beach and Baker Beach come to mind, but the ocean here is a little chilly.

Yes. There is a small one near the Golden Gate Bridge. Then around the headland beyond the Golden Gate Bridge is another nice beach area. Then if you drive south a little way down Highway 1 along the Pacific coast there are many lovely beaches. Otherwise, across the bridge in Marin County there are some nice beaches in the North Bay Area.

Yes. Along the bay, there is Baker Beach, China Beach and also a beach at Crissy Field. Ocean Beach and Fort Funston are on the Pacific Ocean. All of these are within the city limits.

Yes, there's Baker Beach and Ocean Beach, but I would reccomend for you not to go there because it's always cold. The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is better.

The last time I was at a beach in SF there were signs everywhere saying the water was contaminated to stay out.

ya, but California beaches aren't that good . . . they're far over-rated, simply because they are so dirty, packed and they prefer to have far more private beaches than public . . .
