It could be regulated for health issues like the food service industry is.
It could be taxed like all businesses are.
It could be monitored for maintaining the safety of the workers with OSHA mandates.
It could be run in clean well-lighted places like McDonald's with a menu to choose from. Place your order and go to the pick up window. You know what you're getting and you get what you pay for.
The women would be there by choice and not by slave trade. No drug addicts allowed and no pimps; just managers and supervisors.
Instead of playing games with someone wondering if its going to work out, it's just one stop shopping.
It's just sex. What's the big deal if the women are there by choice and protected by law?

1. Disease.

Mr. Taco, AIDS, HERPES, HPV, etc are out there in the dating world and the illegal prostitution world. This is a factor that could only improve with legalization.

3. Women would NOT be there by choice. Most respectable women would refuse to do it. You would STILL be getting the lower dregs of society agreeing to do it because they were desperate for the money.

Your premise insn't supported by the facts of the Nevada model.

4. Degrading, increased cheating, ...

Degrading is a value that you place on the act of sex for money. In that case you shouldn't partake. Cheating? If husband's are going to cheat then the marriage is the problem, not the availability.

You call me an idiot because I would rather just deal with casual sex as a business transaction? I'd be an idiot to waste my time and money playing the relationship game when all I wanted is to get laid!

I thought I'd ask a group where I might expect intelligent responses, but you ...

1. Disease. No matter how much you "clean it up," AIDS, herpes, HPV, etc... you are not 100% protected from these things, even with condoms. The more readily available it is, the more people will do it. The more people do it, the more people exposed to the 1% chance you'll still catch these diseases. Taxation would be cancelled out by increased medical costs that we ALL would have to pay for.

2. What's the difference between a so called "manager" and a pimp? Nothing.

3. Women would NOT be there by choice. Most respectable women would refuse to do it. You would STILL be getting the lower dregs of society agreeing to do it because they were desperate for the money.

4. It is degrading to women in so many ways that it is not even funny. For one thing, it would increase the amount of jerk-off guys cheating on their wives and girlfriends. It is too easy. For another thing, many men would begin to expect their girlfriends and wives to be like hookers. They could get whatever kind of sex they wanted, so why have "vanilla" sex with someone they (supposedly) love? It is hard enough to find a decent guy without making it so guys can have sex whenever they want to with no consequences (except for the disease factor).

5. You say what's the big deal if women are there by choice and protected by the law? I challenge you that they would NOT be there against their will. I challenge that they would be protected by the law. Our law enforcement is already stretched to its limits. This would be expensive and virtually impossible to enforce. Women would still be forced into it by loopholes in the law, coercion, bribery, and threats.

6. It would likely not stop illegal prostitution anyway. Legal prostitution would be supply and demand, and therefore expensive. There would still be cheap hookers outside the system, and then the police would have TWO things to look out for. It's hard enough keeping up with it as it is, and everyone pays for it with their tax money.

Yeah. Great idea. Maybe if you were not such an idiot you could find a girl and not need a prostitute.

if women would start putting out for free all our problems would be solved. let me explain.

Imagine all the monies spent here....stagggering...

Now imagine if all the wives smoked doobies and drank like wild animals like all us married men who frequent prostitues do. Now we have all this extra money to spend on our kids college eduaction and to buy our wives nice beautiful things. INSTEAD of prostitutes spending our money on drugs and gawdy outfits. THE drug dealers are the end of the pipe and all they purchase is 22 inch rims for their escalades and big ole necklaces for themselves.

All the prostitutes would need to find new work and the world would be better. PERIOD>>>

Because it is a state's rights law. It is not for the feds to decide.

I agree with most of what you said though. Except for the Managers and supervisors part. You can rename them if you want, but they would still be the pimps.

Because we live in a country that is based on puritanical values. We are close minded about sex and do not approach the subject in a healthy or rational manner.

Also...if prostitution was legal...that also means men could legally prostitutes. This issue is not just about women...

The one thing nobody has said so far is that it is just plain wrong. The sexual relationship has always been intended as a personal commitment between a man and a woman to give themselves to each other as mates for life. Taking the sacred relationship of marriage and making the sexual relationship a common thing destroys the sanctity of bond between men and women.
Your idea is caveman mentality. Brute behavior such as that makes us no better than animals ruled by our gonads instead of our conscience. Women deserve more respect and consideration than your notion of sexual gratification can ever afford them.
I advice you to live for something higher than physical pleasure.

If men were not socialised into thinking they could have everything they wanted and;

if men did not have such excesive wants and;

if they decided to live with a modicum of respect for humanity;

there would be no need for any kind of prostitution.

I agree .. Not to mention Insurance, 401Ks and Social security for those in the Industry that are below the radar right now..
Problems... Govt. controll and taxation would drive prices for legitimate businesses so high you would have to go back too your wife..and her to you.

It may disturb them mentally and there is an increased risk of STDs. How would you feel to be knocked up everyday by a stranger? Also, if they were to get pregnat the baby would be aborted or poorly taken care of.
