Daylight savings time was invented by Benjamin Franklin at a time in which people still were using candlelight. The light was vital for field work and the like.

We are still using it under the guise of "saving energy", but the truth is that we are not saving anything. The biggest proponents of daylight saving time are stores, golf courses, and anyone who could stand to make a few dollars from the people.

I think that it will save very little (and it could be very costly!). Daylight savings time does not "save" any daylight at all. It merely moves one hour of darkness from the evening to the morning. People will be waking up and having to turn on their lights to see what they are doing and where they are going just as they do now in the evening.

I remember back in the 1970's when we had year-round daylight stupidity (uh,) savings -time for 1 year all through the year. Many children were hit by cars and trucks while they were waiting for their schoolbuses.

I just don't believe year-round DST is a good idea.

(Can you tell I'm a morning person?)

the quantity of potential used interior the morning because of the fact it particularly is going to nonetheless be dark for an hour (which would be erased in some weeks because of the fact the sunlight comes up till now and till now) would be below the quantity of potential which would be stored interior the night whilst people are out and approximately. i've got seen some stupid rationalizations against extending DST however the only approximately merchants and golf classes pushing this must be the dumbest one i've got ever heard (if the source is NPR, i'm no longer stunned). Ddi we ever think of that there are people obtainable that actual like sunlight, and could pick to have as quickly as we are able to apply it, as unfavorable to as quickly as we are snoozing? If people are out and moving, is that a bad element, exceedingly thinking we continuously right here approximately how fat we are and we could get out and exercize? Even have been there no potential decrease fee expenses, DST is an incredible concept, and something that extends an incredible concept is even extra effective.
