i brought a phone off ebay and the seller said it works on vodafone with his contract sim but i did'nt think there was any difference, so i tried a pay as you go on the same network and it says insert sim, i need to know as i can't get it unlocked and haven't got a contact vodafone sim, if any one has a old one

the person u bought the fone from should have informed vodafone they were sellin the fone on then they could have unlocked the fone when the contract expired. fone vodafone c wat they say i presume they will tell u u need 2 get bak intouch with the person who sold u the fone as they will need the security questions answered from them to enable them to unlock it. u wont beable 2 get it unlocked til the network provider has unlocked it from the contract. gud luk.

Sims don't matter as long as the phone is not locked to a particular network!
make sure you have put the Sim card in correctly also try cleaning the contacts on the Sim card using a pencil rubber

Sim cards have a security code on them. Unless the phone is registered to use the sim card, you will need to call the cell provider on your land line and explain the situation. If you are not sure of the cell provider, go to a Sprint, Cingular, Mobile One or Radio Shack store to find out.

yes they are, although you may find the phone is locked to one network.
