So I got a new computer for Christmas. It's an HP, and it's really up-to-date. I have used it for games, projects, documents, etc. The computer I'm using now is my old computer. The point is, I need advice. Should I put the internet on my new computer and greater the chances of catching spyware, viruses, etc? Or, should I keep it with games and other stuff?

if you feel like going on the internet i suggest getting an antivirus, you can get a free one from here: http://wiki.castlecops.com/AntiVirus_Comparison i use antivir but that site reviews all 4 and compares them side by side. i would use avast after antivir but choose for youreself. i would also suggest a firewall: kerio personal firewall 2.1.5 for your old comp it is low on system resources (the lowest you will find) http://www.321download.com/LastFreeware/page7.html

If you've never put your PC on the internet.. Then is isnt even close to being up to date.

Connect your PC

Download all Windows Updates

Find a good antivirus. I recommend Nod32. If you need a free one then check out Avast Anti Virus

You NEED spyware protection. If you dont have any.. you'll get it easily.

First off.. Lets start with downloading Firefox. Its a better browser then Internet explorer and alot safer. www.firefox.com

Now go to www.ccleaner.com and download ccleaner. This will delete all that nasty internet stuff when your done surfing.

Then download Asquared and AVG Anti-Spyware
Scan with those weekly. They'll pick up what CCleaner didn't get.

If you don't have a router then go download Zone Alarm Free. It's a great firewall.

This is how you have a completely safe machine. Good luck.

Connect to the net on your new PC. If you ever have problems use the old one as a backup and get help.
