i often think about space and the universe, people say that space never ends, but everything has a beginning and an end, and if space did end, what would be beyond that, and if space does never end, how on earth can we be the only planet with life. i know alot of people don't like discussing this because it rubbishes religious beliefs but what would happen to our planet if we found out that there is other intelligent life out there, surely this would mean that alot of wars that have centered around religion were totally pointless.

The beginning of another one? (In time, that is. See my answer on Big Bang).

The cosmos is almost certainly teaming with life - just take a look at some of those wonderful Hubble telescope pics of it! And never forget the old scientific, or rationalist maxim that "what might seem inconceivable in a couple of years may well be inevitable in a hundred million".

Wars centered around religion would be pointless indeed. Wars might be fueled, ideologically, by religion as a way of getting lots of people to fight them, but very few if any have actually centered around it - wars are about scarce resources, their associated wealth and the territory in which they are to be found. Riches, in short. Religion is just one of many very effective ways of providing these for the very few.

Thought provoking isn't it, but think about it, space can't end because it is the lack of anything. No end can there be to nothing!

You are right that it is numerically inconceviable that there isn't life somewhere out there. There likely is. This does not change religions necessarily. The Bible doesn't say that no other life exists...it says that satan was cast to the earth when he was thrown out of heaven....we became the great experiment. This does not preclude other life forms looking down on us and seeing the result of sin. Nowhere does religion rule out other life. So we CAN have it both ways, there can be infinity and life elswhere - don't you wish sometimes we could JOIN THEM!!!

Have a good weekend.

Nothing but more universe. It had no beginning, it will never have an end. The universe is not limited by man's puny intelect. Man's ideas are irrelevent to the universe. It is limitless and has no center, edge, corners, up or down, left or right, magnitism, gravity, power or much more than random and widely spaced clusters of matter and widely dispersed gases. There IS other life out there somewhere.
And you could be more right about wars than you realize.

Well. Just because there is life on other planets doesn't automatically rule out there being someone who created it. The big bang doesn't rule out god. Evolution doesn't rule out god. They just don't necessarily rule him in either.
What's at the end of the universe? I don't think there is an end. Space is just that. Space. If there are many solar systems why can't there be many universes? Many Big Bangs? The matter that formed the sun pulled itself together and banged into being the sun just like the matter that formed the universe pulled itself together and banged itself into being the universe. Perhaps there are as many universes as there are suns? I give up.

Very true. But that is the point about the universe - it is infinitely big. We will never know if there is any other life because the distances are too great. From the nearest habitable planet it would take over 50 years to get here.

every1 says the universe is expanding its not its the matter in the universe spreading apart so wot if there is no end that the matter will keep goin till they are all black holes, even if the universe has an ending we still cant be the only intelligent life forms here its impossible. and if the universe does end maybe its another universe who knows

May be no end. Like Earths: being on it you see as plane. But it not finished because is ... round.
