I'm currently 3 months pregnant and covered by my husband's insurance. He is trying to find another job in his same field, but most jobs are contract-based and would not offer insurance benefits. I've done some research, and the private insurance companies that we can go to by ourselves (without an employer group coverage) will not take a pre-existing pregnancy. Would I then qualify for Medicaid during my pregnancy even though my husband's salary exceeds the limits?

You may not qualify if your husbands salary exceeds the limits. I applied for Medicaid in New Mexico. Both me and my husband work full time, but do not have insurance. The insurance at my husbands work is more than what we can afford. We barely met the salary guidelines and it is just for my pregnancy. You might want to call your local office and speak someone about it. Maybe there are some other options for you. Good luck!!!

You will as long as your combined income doesn't exceed the requirements. I was 3 months pregnant when I moved to Florida and was able to be covered under medicaid until 6 weeks after the baby is born. And then the baby will be covered until he's 2.

Contact your local DCF office for the eligibility requirements.

Good luck!

Yes. They have programs in place especially for pregnant women. I think they cover pregnancy and then baby for 1 year after birth. Mother is probably less than 1 year, but at least a couple months. Go to your nearest Social Services building. They will want proof of income, residency, and identification. It will cover you & child, not hubby. Good luck & congratulations!!

If your income exceeds the limits you don't qualify. See if he can stick with his current job for the next 6 months.

You would not be covered by medicaid, nor would the application process even manage to be considered for its ultimate turndown in the amount of time you would need to use it. Tell yoru hsuband to keep his job, that's what being a man is all about.

im with heather. if you make too much they won't give it too you. its free health insurance for people who can't afford to get another kind. i would tell hubby he has to stick it out to at least six weeks after the baby is born. good luck
