Do you think the producers and director of "300" have a pro war agenda? Do you think they're making a film about Greeks fighting Persian "barbarians" to "defend European civilization" because they support the US wars in Iraq and Afghanistan?

Not only is it a stretch, It's a huge one!

The "story" of the Spartans stand at Thermopylae is one of the Greatest "Events" in the history of the world. It's one of those >Pivotal< points in history where things are changed forever!

Without their heroic stand, the still developing ideals of Democracy, that we take for granted today, might have been delayed for centuries, or might still just be an idea in the hearts and minds of people everywhere.... after having been crushed in to oblivion by the Persians.

Believe it or not, there >ARE< things worth fighting, and if needed, dieing for. The freedom to have a choice in your destiny...is only one of the many I can think of.

Get your self out to the library and read up on some history. Figure out Why the people who founded this country did it the way(s) that they did. Find out what historical information caused them to believe what/why they did.

T.S.

NO. For the love of Thor, NO. Why, oh why would something that as a comic, was released years before the current war, have any political agenda. People are blowing this way out of proportion. It's great publicity from the film, but this war supercedes any ties to modern war issues.

I think you're looking into to much.
I'm sick of this!!!
Its based off of a comic! a comic book. About a true battle, or course its been edit as a comic and now with some hollywood.
But, this is off the history channel, they said that those 300 soldiers had gay tendencies, something about being brotherly love or something, which is not in the movie, they're all homophobic. I don't know have any hard evidence to prove this other than i heard it off history channel. But if you want to read into anything, read into that. I think its a great idea for a movie, and I can't wait to see it. I can't wait to see a movie without a political connection of b.s. and i'll be disappointed if this has one. If it turns out like happy feet.........i'll shoot myself.

I want to be entertained, not demoralize by a few opinions of a select group of society.

to give up your life to protect your country, your family, is the most honorable way to die as a solider. Our country was based of such noble thoughts and thats what gives you the freedom to ask such asinine questions.

I don't think 300 has anything to do with our current wars........I think it is a huge epic movie like gladiator, alexander, and troy......so i see no corrolation between the two.
