depending on what you're justifying, not really. Yes he changed the religion of england but his marriages were crazy. to marry anne, he sent katherine away. he divorced her because she could not bear him any children. anne was a freak, jane was a slut, and his other three wives weren't very popular. Nobody liked his last wife yet he stayed married to her until the day he died. His only son edward was the best ruler, mary was ruthless and elizabeth 1 was a slut and not so great ruler( coming from an american point of view). Henry didn't care what he wanted, as long as he got it. All he cared about was proving he could have a son and he only had one.

It's hard to answer this with a short straight answer since your question isn't really clear. Justified in what area of his reign? This King was both King of England and Ireland. Big Job!...lol In my opinion "No King" is justified in murdering his "wives" so do speak. Treason? that's a laugh in itself. However....this was a King that followed an English Army across the Channel in 1513 and took part in the successful seiges of Therouanne and Tournay and the battle of Guinegate, which led to the peace of 1514. So I would say he was justified in this sense. Now King Henry was obsessed in having a "male heir" to his throne but unfortunately his wife (queen Catherine) would not conceive a son but only daughters. So the King looked elsewhere...lol since (women) could not be heirs to the throne due to civil war issues starting. And you know the story about Anne Boleyn. Was he justified on this issue? ...I hardly think not but what could one do?...he was the KING! So happy happy joy joy King Henry divorces Catherine for Anne, Anne doesn't provide Kingy with a son so he doesn't want another divorce on his record so they charge her with adultery and cuts off her head. Is this justifiable? HECK NO! The man was an AH. So now he marries Jane Seymore. She conceives a son for King Henry who was Edward then she dies...lol..what a scenerio! Now that was justified!..I would want to die too if the only reason the King married me was to be his "easy bake oven" for his male off spring! So you have my answers. As a king he was an AH in some ways and was not justifed to some of his choices or ideals. In his military strategies you might say he was "justified" in ending many wars and brought "peace".

In his own mind Henry VIII justified everything he did. If it was to his benefit, then so be it,many people lost their lives due to Henry's " make up the rules as you go" policies.

No absolutley not -- he should have kept with Katherine since that was who he pledged his life with before God (this is in accordance with his times of course, then again having a son is crucial to his times as well -- I think he could have worked something out) he was selfish and unmanly-- the only good thing that came from his being a dumb *** is Elizabeth the 1st without her reign who knows how the world could be different.

To do what? He reigned for a long time and did a lot. To try to determine whether he was justified or not I would need to know more about our interest. In general, he was a man of his time.

In what?
Divorcing and/or beheading his wives?
Katherine of Aragon-no
Anne Boleyn-no
Katherine Howard-divorce, maybe. Beheading, no.
Breaking with the Roman Catholic Church? No, because all of his subjects who were Catholic paid the price in their faith. It also contributed to a few centuries of religious wars where people needlessly died.

To do what? Are you talking about his political policies or his wars, or his change of religion, or his personal life?
