He just bought a new system for his car (amp, bass speakers, and a nice CD player). And he went out to his car this morning and it was all gone. His car was locked but someone cut his convertible top all up to get in the car. He is really really upset. How can I cheer him up? He is not interested in sex or anything like that so I cannot cheer him up that way. And he doesn't want to go out and do anything. I am out of ideas!!

Insurance won't cover it.

The bad news is that short of finding the crook, beating him to within an inch of his life, and returning the system, you can't cheer him up. His problem was that he was ripped off, and something he truly enjoys is gone. That is the problem.
The good news is that he has a wife that obviously wants to help him deal with this problem. Anything you do will be appreciated. Get him tickets to a ballgame, cook his favorite meal, call up his friends and tell them to take him out for the night...Anything that puts a positive back in his life would be helpful.

Help him in any way you can regarding the insurance (if he had any) on his car. By calling and filing a claim. Then cook him his favorite meal and just give him some space to grieve for his loss.

Oy - that sucks. I think it just takes time to get over disappointments like that, but in the mean time I think the best thing you can do is just be there, acting normal and cheerful and distracting him from it. Talk about other things, light stuff, engage him. I'm sorry - good luck!

Doesn't he have any insurance on his car? And tell him to get over it, some people have a lot more serious problems in life than a car stereo system...Just go out andlet him be unhappy by himself, at some point he'll get over it.

Just give him space for a while, he'll get over it. You will know when is the time to cheer him up. He doesn't need cheering up at the moment. Be yourself and be sensible to his feelings at the moment.

If it were me and you wanted to cheer me up, you could go find the guy who did it, cut off his head, put it in a jar, and gift wrap it. That would lighten my mood a little.

uhhh, encourage him to take the day off from work, and give him lots of beer to drink.
then think about getting a new credit card to replace that stuff.
I know that would brighten me up a bit.
