Was out and about round these parts the other day, and the locals just seemed to be very keen on us compared to the Americans, plus the Americans on camp always like talking to us. Do people generally like the British?

Too many people seem to dislike the British for no good reason. There is nothing wrong with us. People hate us because of the history of empire. It's over now, lets move on and be friends.

It all depends on to whom you speak. If you tend to hang with liberals, you'll get a negative view of Americans. If you hang with an intelligent, conservative crowd, then you'll hear much more positive things such as how we send more money to help other nations than anyone else or how anyone is allowed to become successful in this country. All you have to do is work hard.
Our "poor" live better than the middle-class in other developed nations. We sacrifice our time, money, and lives to help other nations become free instead of living under the rule of a vicious thug. Most countries would not have any sort of successful economy if Americans were not buying their products.
I'd be happy to shut down our borders, kick out anyone who is not a natural-born citizen, and use 100% of our military to defend our borders. Do you really think that would make the world a better place?
Think about it realistically instead of in some fantasy world where you don't have to consider facts.

Depends on how you are as a person. I could care less what nationality you are, I think many people (especially American ladies) like the aspect of the British-accented gentleman stereotype, so to say. But really I think most other countries are okay with Britain.

The view up this way is that 'British' is what the English call Scots sports players when they win and English sports players when they lose.
As an incomer, it's very clear to me that 'British' is what the English call themselves when they're trying to pretend they're inclusive.
