started food at 6 months. give them one new thing for about a week. and then add another one. you have to give them time to make sure that they are not allergic to it. it you add too many at once you will never know which one they are allergic to.

This is something you should discuss with your pediatrician. The decision to start on solids is not only age, but also if the baby is ready. Each baby is different. For me it was 4 months. Rice cereal first, then yellow/orange veggies, then green, fruit after that and meats last. This was how my doctor suggested. Only 1 food every 4-5 days because of allergies. They may not have a reaction until it has been in their system for a while. Please discuss with your doctor. They are the best ones to ask about these things. That's what they are there for.

I started stage 1 foods around five months. I started with bananas and did that for a week. Then every week until he had a long list I would add a new food to be sure there were no allergies. A helpful tip, when you are starting a new food have a favourite food the feed you baby with the new food, one bite new one bite old back and forth. That really helped me introduce new foods. It still helps me and he is now two years old. I didn't got to second stage food until he was about 8 months and then I went from second to third more quickly, I think he was 10 months getting a combo if both two and threes. Good luck with feeding!

My little one started at about 5 months with just one meal a day, then a week or 2 later added the next meal at 6 months he is having 3 meals a day. I started with pureed fruit, vegetables and mashed potato. In the 1st couple of weeks i gave him just one or 2 mixed fruits or vegetables, switching flavours each day, but after that i just made foods with lots of different vegetables or fruits mixed together. I haven't been introducing foods one at a time like others and he doesn't seem to have any allergys. I think these days people can get hung up on allergys. My health visitor said that once babies get to 6 months they can tolerate most things and love experiancing new flavours.

When you start them depends on the child. My niece was eating stage 1 by 4 weeks old. The doctor said she's advanced for her age. She started with fruit, but I think you just have to try out flavors and see what your son likes. Whatever you do, DON'T give him anything with strawberries in it because most small children can develope allergies like that. Just try out different stuff and make a note of what he likes and doesn't like. Good luck.

I started my daughter at about 5 1/2 months with rice cereal and a little bit of fruit. I would get the 2-pack, and one container would last two days. Then I'd give her a different one. Anyway I'd do one kind of fruit for two days then try another. She did pretty well with this.
I started veggies about a month later, at about 6 1/2 months. Again, one type for a couple of days, then onto another.
You 'll see which ones your baby favors.
Good luck!

6 months. I started with rice cereal and then moved on to fruit, then veggies, and then meats.
Start with type of food for a week then introduced a new one the next week. Then after the second week, introducted a new one. This will help determine if you child has an allergy to any of the foods you are giving her and gives her tummy a change to get used to the foods before giving her a new one.

I started my daughter on rice cereal at 4 months old. I gave her that for a few days in a row before introducing other baby foods. Whenever I gave her a new food, I would just give her that (and whatever she's already had before) for a few days before introducing yet another kind of food. I figured if she gets an allergic reaction to something, it'd be much easier to determine what it was if I don't feed her several new things in one day.

i started at 4 months. you can start feeding them stage 1 anywhere from 4-6 months. i started with fruit bananas or applesauce because children generally like the fruit better. I would feed one flavor every 2 days that way you can make sure they are not allergic to it or gives gas or belly ache. you can also start giving cereal most peditricaians say start with rice cereal once i knew what my child liked in the fruit category i mixed it with the cereal. you can start giving stage 2 around 6months jars if meat around 7 months and around 9 months start giving some finger foods like cherrios that helps them develop their fine motor skills. you can also start some table food..hope this helps

I started @ 5 months. I started w/ fruits-- which is what my doctor suggested.
F.Y.I. - My baby likes every vegetable that I give him-- he did not develop a preference for fruits:)
I gave my baby a food for 3 days before moving on to a new one-- to make sure he didn't have an allergic reaction.
