It's actually normal to sustain a higher bbt for a few days after ovulation. Your body sends progesterone to help aid in fertilization of an egg, and the hormone is actually what causes the rise in temperature. My cycles will sustain a higher temp for 8-10 days after ovulation, then it gradually starts to drop again. If you sustain a higher temperature for more than 18 days past ovulation, it's a very good indication of pregnancy.
