If I understand the question, you purchased a new monitor and want to know if you have to install anything for it to work. Usually not. But if the monitor came with an install disk, use it. It will usually give you a configuration utility, etc that makes the monitor run better. If you do not have the disc, check the manufacturer's web site. They will have any disc available as a free download (if there is one).

No, not unless the monitor is like 15 years old.
Some of the new computers come with DVI only, but then all you need is a small DVI to VGA adapter to connect an old computer.

if your asking do you hav to buy a new monitor because you bought a new pc, answer is probably not, but if your graphics card only supports dvi and not vga and your monitor is an older vga only monitor then yes.

No. Most monitors are simply "plug-and-play". sometimes you need to restart your computer so it will recognize the device, but you need not install anything.

Only if its broken, if it isn't informing you of events. You have a built in modem in the PC, but a separate Modem gives you heads up information on any problem. A separate modem when you have cable, DSL is necessary. My goof! Sorry I thought you asked about "Modem"
