There are 2 in my area.
The first one is called Devil's run. In the 70's A school bus was crossing a railroad and got hit killing all the kids and left the driver unharmed. A few years later the driver died of natural causes. As legend holds, if you go out there at 3:33 am on October 2nd, you can see the driver walking the tracks with a lantern searching for all of his kids.
The second is an old iron bridge out in the middle of the country. This bridge is no longer in use but still stands for this legend. Back in the day. it was a hanging ground for 3 witches. The area would have been a perfect place as there is one large apple tree that stands at the bridge's entrance. The legend says that when they hung the witches, they didn't die. The country people couldn't believe it, so they set the tree on fire. Unfortunately a severe thunderstorm came and put the fire out. Completely outraged, they left them there hanging. They eventually died from starvation. The legend says that if you bring 3 glasses of water, 3 slices of bread, and pick 3 apples from the tree, you can hear them whisper thank you, we bring you love and light. Unfortunately most people cannot reach the apples because they now only grow on one branch. The one they were hung from.

Yes, most cities do. We have a lot. One is there is a haunted bridge. Story goes that there was a mother yrs ago that had had car trouble on the bridge she left her infant in the car to go seek help. Some how the child got out of the car or was removed and fell into the river. To this day they say if your on the bridge and shut off the engine the car will not restart and you will hear a baby cry. Never happened for us or anyone I knew.
Only one I can confirm is the witches circle. Not sure there is a witch there but the rest is true. As a teen a group of friend wanted to go out in the wood. I didn't know about the story before I went, I learned it when I got back in the car and was already freaked out. Hot summer day there is a circle of tree that outlines a old small family graveyard. One would think standing in the sun at 90 some degrees it would be hot. No it was ice cold like winter. Not only that but it was like a negative energy calling to me to come back there. In the center where I stood is suppose to be where the witch is buried.

I am pretty sure that every town has an urban legend or 10 associated with it. I grew up in NYC and I have heard everything from their being alligators in the sewers to Jimmy Hoffa's body being dumped in the Hudson. The Mafia takes care of the sanitation department and secretly runs the city in a loosely masked puppet regime. Prolonged exposure to the village will turn you either gay, into a tattooed and/or pierced artistic individual, a zealot vegan who abhors organized society and longs for mass anarchy, or some combination of all of the above. In the suburbs of long island that I moved to in my 20's I heard horror stories of men being castrated for entering reservation land. You have to take what you hear with a grain of salt, and cautious skepticism.

our town in south africa, krugersdorp has one.
it happens on the road between krugersdorp and another town about 5 miles away, randfontein.
the legend is that there was this young motorbiker who was killed by a drunk driver. he was decapitated in the accident.
every now and then, you'll hear the story of a drunk guy who has crashed his car on the road (which is dead straight for 4 or the five miles).
he will say this guy on a bike forced him off the road. then he'll say the guy was headless.
strangely enough, a friend and i could have sworn we saw the guy one night after a few beers....

Yep - I live in Ireland and on a road about 1/2 mile from me the banshee is said to roam....if you *hear* her in particular, you better run or drive for home *fast*. Funnily enough, she does get heard quite often - a horrible scream which is like a cross between fighting cats and a woman's wail. Yikes.
