Too many of my students have trouble with analog dials and clock problems because they grew up with everything digital!

Its not just kids (but they are the worst about it), but we took a road trip and forgot the cell phone charger, so the phone died. EVERYONE we talked to thought we should buy a new phone, or new charger, or SOMETHING because they just couldnt fathom driving down the highway with no phone... like it hasnt been going on for a hundred years... I'm a coach and almost all of my kids have cell phones, most of them by the time they are 8, some at 6... it blows my mind!!!! I understand safety, but what happened to good ol supervision?! :)

I think this just goes with the territory as technology is constantly changing. Back when I was in school, our chemistry teacher in high school made us use slide rules instead of calculators. Why? Because that's what she used, and she thought it was something good to know.

Today, it's really no different, and as teachers, we simply have to adjust with the times. It's even hard to find kids who remember black & white television, or a time before remote controls.
