Okay so im about 17 weeks pregnant, but im not sure because thats just from when I think I got my last period. The doctor touched my stomach and he is really experienced so he told me I was about 17 weeks also (4 months and 1 week). He send me to get my first ultrasound today for the "fetal age". But will the Dr. doing the ultra sound tell me the gender or the baby too, or is that a seperate appointment?

Right now, I think they're trying to figure out exactly how far along you are. It's a little too soon, to tell the gender. They'll probably do another ultrasound sometime after 20 weeks to figure out the gender.

The sonographer will take measurements of the fetus, check for the fetuses organs, give you pictures... and yes they absolutely may be able to tell you the gender. The babies genetalia is full formed by week 12. I was told the gender of my baby at my 13 week and 5 day ultrasound. People often times say you can't tell until the 20th week because that is when most ultrasounds are scheduled.

They should be able to tell the age at this point. With my first pregnancy I switched drs at 15 wks. At my first appt with the new dr they did an u/s to check age (standard practice there, but usually done at your 8wk appt), and they were also able to correctly tell that it was a boy. Babies differentiate (show boy or girl parts) at 14 wks, so if you have a cooperative baby you should be able to tell. It sounds like you're being sent to an outside lab. Hopefully you'll get a nice person and they'll tell you, but sometimes you'll get a not-so-nice person and they'll just find what they need and send you on your way. Make sure to let them know that you want to find out!

they usually dont do an ultrasound just for the gender. they are suppose to do that when they try to find out the fetal age. but since your u.s. was early in thee pregnancy, im not sure how they will do that. they usually cant tell the gender until around 20 weeks or so. so i would ask him and see what he says. hope this helps.

Depends what they can see and how far along you really are. They will measure the head, thighbone, and look for other things. The length and circumference of the head will tell them the approximate age. It's fun! Enjoy it! After my first ultrasound my due date went from December 5 to November 4.

You can ask the tech if they can tell. If the baby is cooperative and lets you take a peak, you may be able to find out. The tech will probably also tell you that it is not 100% so don't start picking out colors. Sometimes the umbilical cord is mistaken for a boy's part and then a girl comes out.

no doctor can tell you how far along you are by feeling your stomach. he might be experience, but science is always the best answer. they can tell you the gender also at 17 weeks if you would like to know. however, the baby doesn't always cooperate.

they might tell you the gender if you ask, but the baby might still be to small, usually after 20 weeks they can tell the gender

at 17 weeks, they MIGHT be able to tell you the sex, although they usually wait until 20 or more weeks. I doubt they'll tell you, but you never know.

They will be able to tell the sex for you. As early as 11 weeks they can tell.
