If you have a general idea of when your LMP was, and it sounds like you do, and the ultrasound agrees with your general idea, I would go along with the due date the ultrasound has given you. In early pregnancy, the baby is supposed to follow certain developmental milestones (at a certain gestational age the heart will beat, etc.), so it's possible to get a farily accurate reading of how far along you are with an early ultrasound.
Also, I have always kept very careful track of my cycles. I always know the exact date of my LMP, so when I get pregnant I can tell, without help of doctor or ultrasound, when I'm due. With this pregnancy they did an ultrasound on the day I turned 9 weeks. Why? An early ultrasound is fairly routine, depending on what doctor you go to, even if you know the exact date of your LMP. The early ultrasound is also done to determine where the baby has implanted (in the uterus or in the tubes) and whether the pregnancy is developing.
Congratulations and good luck!

Ultrasounds are accurate with a week long bubble. So if you have the date of 17 it could be as early as the 10 or as late as 24 and still that is just your due date. Everything with when the baby will come is finely tuned guess work.

When I went for my ultrasound with my last pregnancy the tech told me that they're normally accurate within 3 days. With my son they came up with a date of Dec 23 or Dec 24 (one u/s at 15wks and one u/s at 20 wks), and he was born Dec 24. With my daughter they gave a date of 9/17 at 9wks, Sept 12 at 19wks, and she was born Sept 1.
I think that the u/s is more accurate than the due date the dr normally gives based on LMP, but still just a guess.

the standard ultrasounds are 'incredibly secure' which ability they do no longer pose a 'substantial' threat to the infant. the advantages extremely outweigh the dangers. nevertheless, you ought to no longer have ultrasounds except mandatory as they surely are no longer with out threat. keep in mind years in the past they additionally thought x rays have been secure.. in recent times a minimum of maximum medical doctors do inform you correct to the dangers of ultrasound. a minimum of mine did. 4 continues to be interior secure limits. yet stay removed from those new 3-D ultrasounds.. they use a mega dose of ultrasound and that they do no longer look to be secure. there has been plenty controversy and a great style of places are refusing to do them, merely the greater earnings oriented places. pass forward and have this ultrasound... 4 is okay.

i wasnt sure of my LMP either, and the doctor first gave me a due date of April 1st. When i went for my ultrasound, my due date was changed to March 28th. And now I am 37 weeks and ready to be induced next week. So yeah for the msot part, they are accurate. But remember your due date is always just an estimate. My son will be two weeks early, but he is fully grown. When babies are ready to come out, they will. Good luck and congratulations!

They are usually right on the mark, with my first two, the due date that the ultrasound showed was the date they were both born on. With my second, it was just a few days off. I would go by it for sure.

They go by the growth of the fetus. The length of the spine and such. Every due date can swing two weeks either way though. They usually are accurate.

The ultrasound is as accurate as the rest, babies grow at a steady rate the first few months, but after the middle of the second trimester they grow at different rates depending on many different factors.

Yes, ultrasounds that early are very accurate. All babies measure exactly them same size at first. I had one done at 10 weeks because I didn't have a period, it was right.
