I'm 15 weeks and have seen the doc around 3 times so far. I've had 2 blood tests plus a sugar test but never has he checked my urine. I've had a UTI a few years ago, I don't have any symptoms but I'm still wondering why he's not taking any urine tests. Otherwise he's been great.

Not all doctors check urine at every appointment. Some do, some don't. If yours doesn't and you want him to then I suggest switching doctors. Personally, I don't mind not peeing in a cup every time I see the doctor. If it bothers you that much, then change doctors.

I've had 4 kids and with each pregnancy every time I visited the doctor I had a urine test taken. This is not done for UTI's, urine measures alot of things, blood, protein, sugar..etc. I feel he should be doing this routinely. Next time you go ask the nurse or your doctor...NEVER be afraid to ask anything no matter how trivial you think it is. Better to be safe than sorry.

different places are different. Where i was living they do it with just the first set of normal pre-natal blood tests and that's it unless there is a problem. I moved and where i am now, the do it at every check-up. One way is not better than the other. Don't stress about it. Ask your doc why or why not do a urine test, I'm sure he will answer to your satisfaction.

I honestly don't know. I've only had a couple blood tests & I'll be 21 weeks tomorrow...but every 4 weeks I have a urine test. I would ask him next apt. Just to be sure.

maybe you should tell him that you feel you need to test your urine.....how did you know you had a uti a few days ago if a doctor didnt say you did? if you feel he is not treating you right you should get a new doc.... my doc check my urine every time i go in.... for sugar and protien and etc..... asked to be check... if he refuse then get a new doc... good luck

They don't check the urine for infection, it's checked for protein which would indicate pre-eclampsia. I always had to pee in the cup at every single visit starting with my 8wk appt, but maybe they aren't doing it yet because pre-eclampsia doesn't usually hit until late in pregnancy. I'd ask the dr.

Not sure why you have had two blood tests already. you only really need two your entire pregnancy, one for gestational diabetes, but that isn't until around 26 weeks, and one to check for neural tube birth defects. he should be checking your urine at every appointment. my doctor make me pee in a cup in the office if i forget mine. they check for protein levels in the urine. i would ask him about it and really think about changing doctors.

he should be having you pee in a cup every time you go in to see him. the urine test will check for proteins and sugar. if he is not testing you, he should be. i would talk to him about it. so your answer is no, he is not doing the right thing. your urine needs to be checked at EVERY visit. good luck with everything.

You should just ask them. At every visit a nurse/medical assistant checks my urine, weight and blood pressure.

My urine was always checked but maybe your doctor thinks there is no reason to check yours. Ask him at your next checkup. Best of luck.
