My kids and I play toontown online and never had a problem with it until recently it's like my computer doesn't have enough RAM to play the game. My computer is by no means a new one but it has 256 RAM and according to the website that should be plenty. I have no viruses and tons of space on my hard drive and everything else seems to run fine, maybe a little slow but nothing major. When I turn off the music and sound effects the game runs better but it's still very slow.
Any ideas what might be wrong other than my computer is a piece of crap.

there are 2 things that I can think of that may cause the problem, There could be dust on the memory causing it to over heat a bit, or else the memory is going bad.
Buy some compressed air for computers and open the case with the power off and the computer unplugged then blow out the dust and see if that helps

Keep in mind that you have applications running in the background that still using some of that RAM so your best way is to upgrade your RAM to have better performance in your PC and your games.

You probably need more if it says you need more. My OLD gaming PC has 1024mb of RAM in it. Look into getting another stick of RAM for your pc, theres nothing wrong with it you just dont have enough.

Your ram is is relatively hungry, this is why that is dropping lots weight. attempt screwing the back off of your pc and giving it a burrito or something. I in user-friendly terms use sheep in my pc, grass is low priced and ample so that is particularly low-fee selection.

Viruses are not the only menace out there... there is adware and trojans now too. These slow down your computer and may be causing problems. Try this, it's called ad-aware and it's free....
