Although highly discouraged by Blizzard, Private servers are fairly tricky to set up.

Legally if you are a paying subscriber to WoW, you can set up a private server for yourself.

I would suggest by browsing through www.wowstatus.net for a list of private servers that you can play on.

Most will have the Version of WoW required to play on, and will give you instructions on how to connect to the server.

As far as setting one up for yourself, it requires downloading an Emulator, such as WoWemu.
