It is done all the time.

Governments send out invisible agents all the time to infiltrate various things and they seem to "drop off the face of the earth" to carry out their missions.

People who have to disappear for turning evidence or whatever go into "protective custody" and disappear also from the face of the earth.

Criminals do it all the time.

It is not all that hard to do so long as you never leave certain traces behind if you are a criminal. IE fingerprints.

However, most people would have much rather stayed right where they are. After a lifetime as yourself, sometimes you miss those you loved dearly!

And then there are street kids. They are often untraceable and their families never find out about them.

I don't know for sure...but that would be pretty cool. I'd love to be lost without a trace for a few days and then go back home as if nothing ever happened.
Kinda like "what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas"

Lost to who? If YOU know where you are, you're not lost. Do you mean to ask how you dissappear without a trace? There are many ways of establishing a false identity and 'falling off the grid' of information. Why do you want to? Perhaps it would simply be easier to change cities.
