Most music today is inappropriate. It's not about the music anymore it's about how freakin' weird you can look. Music is no longer original. You can take most bands and put any four or five guys/girls behind the instruments and the music would be no different. It's talentless but promoters are looking for something pre-packaged these days. There's no meaning and 99% of these bands won't be nothing but a fart in the wind in 5 years. I used to buy at least 2 CDs a week but now I find myself searching through all the classic rock and world music because the stuff the radio plays if garbage. Don't get me wrong maybe I find a band or two (of today) that I like but not enough to go out and buy their CD or even still, many good bands get lost in the shuffle because record companies want the same sound across the airwaves. And they blame the Internet for slow CD sales. That's a joke.

I think that everyone has there own opinon. Some poeple think that's its inappropriate and others don't. I personally don't think it's inappropriate. A lot of people don't like their kids listening to rap because they think it's inappropriate but rap is just a way artist express their feelings. Songs that have cursing in it may be inappropriate but they have copies that are edited so they aren't inappropriate.

So, when you say that . . .can you say that the songs that say my father listened to when he was younger, inappropriate?

Most of the songs from his generation was all about drugs and yes, I do have to admit that they did it in a coy way. They used heavy analogies and stuff like that but you say that the music of today is inappropriate because there are bad words or they talk about sex. Yes, it is inappropriate but it also falls underneath free speech. But to tell the children of today that to listen or view inappropriate things . . .makes it all that more appealing. I was not restricted when I was younger from things deemed inappropriate and I didn't do drugs, I didn't have sex, I didn't run out and kill anyone. . .

Inappropriate music and movies do not make someone do something . . .it's the mind that does.

It depends on what kind of music or songs they are listening 2 that would make the songs inappropriate.

Some songs definately are inappropriate for kids to be listening to. But its up to parents in the end to sensor what their kids are and are not allowed to watch and listen to.

My son will change the station when he hears something on that he knows I wouldn't approve of him listening to.

What happened to the sing along songs that I grew up listening to?

That was the music I listened to before I got into rock in the mid 90s.

I am 44, and my parents always let me listen to whatever I wanted waaayyyy back when. Through my dad I was introduced to Pink Floyd, ELP,Tangerine Dream....I like just about every kind of music, except real heavy metal....but I would never tell my kids they COULDN'T listen to something. And face it, a lot of the music they listen to is crap, one hit wonder pop tarts, boy bands that are indiscernible from one another, rappers featuring guest star after guest star until you don't know who the hell is playing.
But then again I remember the Bay City Rollers,Shaun Cassidy,Tiffany.etc...crappy boy bands and pop tarts. So it just goes to show that nothing changes. Someone is always not going to like what is playing, but that's just life.

It all comes down to opinion. I think that the stuff kids listen to is a lot more appropriate then the things I see on TV and the Internet.

The music babies hearken to those days sucks... mainly, it truly is. The "everyday" music is undesirable. i could advise the classics, like the Beatles and the doors, and music from again then. It became a good deal more suitable positive, and has a tendency to be more suitable acceptable (except there's a ton that are about drugs, inspite of the truth that it is not extremely glaring if he would not already understand).
