That's pretty much a no brainer, and very literal. When you least expect something to happen, it will happen.

It means something will happen to you or come to you when you think or care the least about it. It will be the farthest thing from your mind at the time, so you won't even expect it.

It is saying that is used for situations that you thought were near impossible or improbable to ever occur, where you have written it off as ever coming to pass and then the next thing you know, you turn around and there it is taking place, it happens "when you least expect it"

It basically means when you don't expect or anticipate something to happen, and it happens to you. Kind of a silly turnaround phrase though.
It's like saying: It's always the last place you look.
Obviously, because once you've found the glove/item/whatever, you're done searching for it, so it's the last place you've looked!

It's when you are not even thinking of or anticipating an event, and it happens.
Like the saying that "Love happens when you least expect it" means that when you stop looking for it, just when you are thinking that you'll be single forever and that there is nobody worth dating, you'll bump into the love of your life. Supposedly.

Well...it could be you are having one of the worst days in your life...everything has gone wrong...so you expect pretty much everything to be bad...then out of no where...someone brings you some hot cookies...right out of the oven...well on all days...when everything has gone wrong...someone brought you cookies...when all you expected was one more bad thing...but instead you got something nice.
