Because as far as history is concerned the human race never really learns from it mistakes,we just recognise them when they come around again ;0)

Lightning does strike the same place twice. Usually it looks for the shortest path to earth itself.

I have a friend who was struck 3 times by lightning in the back of a pickup truck while visiting the Free State in South Africa. Miraculously she survived but I have heard of people being struck more times than that.
