I can't believe that this guy isn't a front-runner in the GOP race. He governed Ark. for 2 terms, was named in top 5 governors, and is definitely likeable. Why isn't every conservative talking about him? Look at explorehuckabee.com

For the record I am a Dem, but have studied Poli Science extensively and received my degree in it.

The problem with your logic, and I mean no disrespect here, is that you are following the horse race too closely too far out.

The media enjoys covering the hourse race but rarely looks at other factors.

Elections always hinge on the UFO. The Unforseen Factor that his a campaign. Dean was riding high in the polls, yet Kerry won. Some might attribute it to the Scream Speech, but he had already lost 2 states by then.

Bill Clinton was a nobody. No one heard of him or gave him any press. The press they did give him was about Jennifer Flowers, which all the pundits said should have killed him politically.

Huckabee is a formitable candidate. He is conservative but has that same soft side that can win over people of the middle. He has been a governor of a southern state for 8 years and been the head of the Natl Governors Assoc. (just like Bill Clinton). He has the same media people as Bill did when he first ran. And he's also from Hope, leading the person who did Bill's widely acclaimed 1992 DNC spot, "A Man from Hope," to say he would do another for him called "Another Man from Hope."

The Republican race right now is all about name recognition and Huckabee has none. When September rolls around, money is spent and a debate occurs, the base of the Reps will drfit toward a candidate more for their stances than their name. For this republican party, i cannot imagine before they sign on to a Mormon candidate, another war-Hawk, or a pro-choice, pro-gay marriage mayor, they would give serious consideration to a ultra-marriage hyping, conservative, 2 term governor from the sourth.

Cheers.

Hmm... this seems like a campaign ad but I'll assume you were asking in good faith.

Mike Huckabee is a political and social conservative and, as you said, ranked one of the to 5 governors this year. I have maintained since the beginning that he will be a formidable candidate and I still believe that, but only if he can keep in the race for a while. I don't know if he'll have the money or the infrastructure to stay in the race with Giuliani, McCain or Romney.

I've known him for years.

He's definitely an unusual person in that he is exactly what he presents himself as being.

Mike would be a better choice as President than anything either party currently seems to be preparing to sell us. He is about the only person I can think of that could run as a Republican and have a chance at this Libertarian's vote.
