There were people dumping chemicals where I live, and they are actually coming up through the vent system from the basement. It has been going on for some time. One of them is benzene.

I have told the DEP, also local board of Health, but I think they are covering things up.
This is big, as developers want to put a developement in our town, remake it all over.
It very well goes as high as the state capital, the people who are in on this.
What can I do? I have been told by people, keep lips shut tight and leave. County does not want to help move me and I am also disabled.

This is bad. Don't keep quiet and contact a lawyer ****ASAP****, not as a last resort. I really can't stress this enough. Because you know who's doing this you have a really, really good case. Some family friends of ours had property on a dump and couldn't get out because the property was old and the origins of the issues couldn't be traced. One of their children died, the mother has cancer, all their pets died, there are just endless health problems.

I found this: "Benzene exposure has serious health effects. Breathing high levels of benzene can result in death, while low levels can cause drowsiness, dizziness, rapid heart rate, headaches, tremors, confusion, and unconsciousness. Eating or drinking foods containing high levels of benzene can cause vomiting, irritation of the stomach, dizziness, sleepiness, convulsions, rapid heart rate, and death."
So if you have well water, avoid it for now.

Get a good Lawyer, Have them help you get out asap, if they're good they will. Environmental law is a big business so you shouldn't have trouble finding help.

I don't like having to say this, but as a last resort, talk to a lawyer. It is the board of Health's responsibility to help people in situations like this, not to sit around and look pretty.
