I was unable to breathe because I was suffocating from laughter. Imagine this: the guy had presented himself as an absolute alpha male. He calls me and he has this thin, nervous, reedy, squeaky little voice ... just like a mouse with a twitch. Later on, his appearance was another shock: he wasn't thin (as one could have thought based on his voice) but rather, plump, chubby and bald. On top of it all, he was a keen Hare Krishna!
So after that I decided that I am not meeting people online anymore ... I better do it the old-fashioned way. First meet, write later!

Typing is always going to be different than a phone conversation or a face to face. Voice changes, body language...etc., all of those have a factor in your perception of someone and how they preceive you. Besides, you are feeling each other out differently from a stranger you were just typing to here and there to an actual conversation. But be careful, not everyone is who they say they are on the internet.

The fact that you dont have pressure by anyone and you have a lot of time to answer to one question and you can erase what you didnt realy want to say

In person you are nervous, and when you are nervous your breathing becomes faster, not really able to get enough air to your lungs, so you have short breathe

billy has the same problem, well sorta, the written word is only slightly easier than the spoken, my grammar and speech betray my poor roots.

its easier to be yourself over e-mails. when you face someone for first time you are putting yourself out there. the excitement and nervousness.... the possibility of rejection..... all of this can be overwhelming
