Hi Andrea,

When you say they didn't work do you mean on your computer or on another machine. If you mean on your computer you might have a CD burner and not a DVD.

If you mean in another player it might be because you are using +R. There are two types of DVDs - plus R and dash R.

The DVD+R and DVD-R are competing formats much like the old VHS and Beta formats in video tapes. Today most drives are Hybrid and handle both formats. They are usually labeled DVD+/-R. The DVD-R format has been in use since 1997, it has had a five-year lead on DVD+R. As such, older or cheaper DVD players (up to 2004 vintage) are more likely to favor the DVD-R standard exclusively, and when creating DVD’s for distribution (where the playing unit is unknown or older) the DVD-R format would normally be preferable.

I would try a -R and see if it plays O.K.

Check your dvd burner to see what format it support. Older dvd burners can usually read or write to only either dvd+r or dvd-r. Try burning with dvd-r disc. To ensure a good burn you need to use good quality disc like Verbatim,Taiyo Yuden or maybe Sony. Don't use unknown brand or Memorex. It's also a good idea to burn your dvd-r at a slow speed between 4x to 6x to ensure compability with all dvd players.

It would be best to give us more information. Why didn' the dvd+r's work? What symptoms, error messages did you get? What equipment are you using? What software? What kind of stuff were you trying to burn?
