I am not sure. I would imagine that it had a lot to do with the way, " the word" was used, and the look on the other persons face when "the word" was said, and whether or not, other people used "the word".

I've always wondered that too!! Words like the "B" word for instance means "female dog".....who made it so bad that it's now considered a bad word! It's weird!!!!!!!
