I used to run 10 miles a day 5-6 days a week for about ten years. I moved and got a job and dont run anymore(for about 7 years I havent been running)now my feet hurt all the time especially after work and on my days off I can barely walk. Can this be from all the running I used to do or something else. What can I do about this. The area that hurts is in my feet especially in the heel area.

You sound like you are suffering from plantar fasciitis, which means that the main nerve that connects into the bottom of your feet is swollen and irritated.

This can happen when you are working on hard surfaces or working in footwear that is not cushioned enough.

You really should make an appointment with a foot doctor and he/she will be able to tell you what is happening and give you some solutions.

I worked in the sport shoe industry for years and worked with many customers who had similar heel pain and had to wear certain types of stable and cushioned shoes with orthotic inserts to alleviate the problem.

You may also need to add in a bit more time for exercising, even walking will keep your legs and feet strengthened and flexible.
