I'm a teacher. I respect honesty from my students and will not tolerate anything less. Be honest and sincere, tell her you want to do the responsible thing and take the heat for missing the class, and tell her you won't do it again. I can usually tell when a student is trying to BS their way out of a problem, and that usually makes it worse.

The only real way to get respect is to also give it.

If you skipped a class it is your responsibility to make up any work and/or notes from that day. Apologize and then ask what you need to do to make up the work. Don't ask "Did I miss anything?" because of course you missed something. Ask instead what you need to do to catch up.

If you are in high school ask for makeup work along with the apology. If you are in college ask for notes, makeup work and apology.

Did she ask for an apology? If not, I wouldn't mention it. If she did, I'd tell her the truth.

You could go to your teacher and say, "Hi Ms. _____, I'm really sorry I skipped your class. I had something else and I'm sorry I didn't give you prior notice. Please forgive me...I won't do it again..."

Good luck.

I'm really sorry I missed your class yesterday, it was that time of month again. Is there a way I can make it up?

be honest. admit it was a mistake. don't do it again.

teachers are more generally forgiving if you don't make lousy excuses and explain the truth respectfully. :)
