I am an American, but were I a UK citizen, I would be a monarchist. While it is true that today's monarchy has little influence on government, politics, and the direction in which the UK moves, I believe the monarchy provides something grand and austere in which one can believe. I have read where some UK citizens believe that the monarchy should be abolished because it is ineffectual. I disagree. The many charitable works and support that the monarchy provides to so many throughout the realm raises that sense of patriotism. The citizens should feel that someone other than government is on their side.

Because of the UK's long monarchial history, it would be a shame to either abolish or degrade the importance of the Royal Family. The reigns of such monarchs as Henry V, Henry VIII, Elizabeth I, Victoria, the six Georges, and Elizabeth II are a time-tested testament to the glory and superiority of the UK. The accounts that I have read of these great men and women fill me with national pride....and as I say, I'm an American.

I believe that your feelings of patriotism and love of Queen and Country are admirable. Do not lose them. Your country has a long, colorful history, one of which every citizen should be proud.

I am having to love the Queen & your country from afar! I am in the US and trying to save up the money to move there. I have wanted to live there for quite some time now. Your country atleast attempts to protect its citizens while mine tells the world that the doors are open come even if you get here illegally we won't get rid of you. I know that Englad has her problems too but it atleast looks out for everyone, not everyone who isn't a citizen.

Yes, I support the Queen and my country, and I'm not ashamed to say so. I'm a Canadian because my ancestors were United Empire Loyalists, and chose to come to the wilderness that was then Canada, rather than abandon the Crown.

I think there are plenty of us around, but we tend to be the quiet ones in the background who aren't heard.

I think you are in a minority. English people who can afford it are moving to France and Spain etc. for a better quality of life.
The "British " royal family who are more german than anything else have had their day and I don't think they will have much relevance once the present queen is dead.
Her son and heir , Prince Charles is certainly seen as a hypocritical, spoilt brat and will not be as popular as she is.

Yeah, God save the queen! Down with the unwashed peasant masses! They'll just dirty up her jewels if we let them in the palace.

I think having a queen and royalty is now redundant. They make no rules or laws. It's all done for tradition.
