the best advise anyone can give you is to go and trade it in for a 360

Sony will only replace the PS3 with their newer version, which does NOT play ANY PS2 games at all... in about 2 months or so - they are still ramping up the production on the new units. They are no longer making the PS2 chips AT ALL and have no way of fixing the original units.

So, unless you got a PS2 sitting around, you might be better off trying to work out a trade with a hardware guru for a unit that works, so they can hack and mod your unit to their heart's content.

Sorry, but you got a pig in a poke when you bought the PS3... Sony was originally going to dump the PS3 totally after they stopped making the PS2 chips 2 months ago...

You have to update the ps3 to the last firmware available. If that does not work contact Sony or go to the official ps3 website
