Counseling if its an option. Then divorce. A good marriage requires trust and trust requires honesty.

If they are dumb things try to let them roll off your back. But, that raise a bigger question. Is he lying to you about things that are not dumb?? That's where the trouble lies if he is lying.

Some good advice. Lying about small and "dumb' things makes lying about major things easier. Practice makes perfect you know.
So rather than wonder what to do you'd best call him on it. If not you've laid the groundwork for problems in the future.

Assume that if he lies for the little dumb things he also lies for OTHER things.

My ex husband lied all the time about ridiculous things and then acted confused as to why I did not trust him, lol! Well, he doesn't have to lie to me anymore, and I have found someone who respects me enough to tell me the truth.:)

I couldn't live like that. I'd tell him that he either gets his lying butt to therapy and find out why he feels such a need or he can pack his bags and head off down the road. Life is already too difficult without having to secondguess your own mate all the time.

For some reason he may not feel he can tell you the truth. The problem with lying about the little things is will he lie to you about the big things too?

Some people are compulsive liars, he may need therapy. These type of people don't even know WHY they lie, they just do. Could be he is just jerky, I know LOTS of people like that. Most likely though, there is an underlying problem. Compulsive lying is a symptom of another issue.

I would wait for the perfect opportunity for him to ask me a question and look right into his eyes with a straight face and lie to him. When he catches you in a lie, ask him in a calm voice, now how does that make you feel?
