It's another example of "Cicus Maximius Americana"-or, the further "dumbing down of America". But don't think that other societies are not affected. "Big Brother" is popular on europe and they have their own versions. The disease has spread. American Idol has also been copied. They probably do well over their because of socialist attitudes about "the common man". Prince Charles once downplayed the fact that anyone an do anyhting and be good at it. He was highly criticized for that remark and called "elitist". Sad to day, and as much as I do not like royalty, he made a good point. Too bad he was drowned out by his critics.

I do hate to say it, but the stupidier the show, the better chance it has of surviving. Personally I haven't watched the show, and have no intention of doing such, but from what little I know about it, it is the type of show that would appeal to the masses. Unfortunately,TV plays to the lowest common denominator, inother words, it goes towards the simpler or the minds. Am I amazed that it is so popular, no, just sorry that it seems to be all people talk about. There are some things worth watching on TV, but those are too sophisticated for the masses.

i think of of that it somewhat is all making American Idol seem as though a large humorous tale! With the persons indoors the media like Perez Hilton and Howard Stearn questioning that it is humorous to invite human beings to vote for somebody. I had savour for the prepare until very final season on an identical time as Chris Daughtry have been given voted off and the soul patrol gained. This 3 hundred and sixty 5 days it is even worse. i think of of if Sanjaya have been to win by using utilising some fluke.....the prepare could desire to lose all creditability. It somewhat makes me disappointed to artwork out this occurring each and each and each and each week. it is become American recognition Contest.....yet American's do in contrast to Sanjaya so what does that permit you be responsive to...

The nation doesn't watch anything. Some of its citizens watch Idol, while others are watching something else, just as stupid. No, I'm not amazed. Poor taste is everywhere.

First off I must say Dess doesn't make sense, she says you lack entertainment skills... what is she saying sitting on your duff watching TV makes you entertaining...

I CANT STAND THE SHOW it is in poor taste I think we have really been dumbing down America and Americans are allowing it, I feel that shows like that make us look insensitive, cruel, heartless, boring, lacking creativity so we throw yet another mindless reality show up there that bashes peoples egos and esteem and caters to mindless drones that don't know how to think for themselves. The show teaches how to bully people, just what our children need to learn, name calling, and picking on people for giving it their best try. Yeah what a show to have on the air... Sorry but I feel if the majority of people are watching these shows and these are your friends (Dess) it says something about your character, and how you view treating others....

Have a GREAT day!

I am amazed it is such the 'hit' as it is. I don't watch it, period. Last night, my boyfriend and I were in a room across the hall looking at something on the computer when it came on (we neglected to turn the tv off) and just hearing it in the other room was enough to drive us crazy enough to run in there and turn it off! I can't believe so many people waste so much time watching it, worrying about it, blogging about it, discussing it here, etc. Apparently there are way too many people in this country without a life!

I would say I'm disappointed, not amazed, that people would actually enjoy watching some mentally challenged contestants, in the early episodes each season, be ridiculed.
I think there are some very talented contestants on the show, but they should eliminate those that are not talented before they appear on tv and before the judges.

I love American Idol. The 'idiotic nation' of Singapore adores it too.

Actually, once you work through the fluff and the "no-talents", it's a good show. I love music, and some of the performers are exceptional. You must admit, it has spun some really good talent.
