I use to raise them. Males must be alone until they are to be used for breading and then seperated after. 2 or 3 females could be in a tank with hiding places available for them or other fish.
Why are you taking on a pet with just guess work.
Even fish are living breathing beings with feelings. We should
not risk harming or hurting them because we don't take the
time to read about their habits and care. Pet stores carry books for the care and health of pets they sell. Please make the effort to be responsible by reading before you do some inosent creature harm. You can search Ask.com

You could do 1 betta in a community tanks with other tropicals. Two bettas can be ok together in a large tank, 55+ gallons for two. But males usually fight and get stressed. A large tank allows them room to escape and set up territories. Females are better in groups. You can do a group of 5 females in as little as 10 gallons. As with any other fish, sometimes you get an exceptionally aggressive male or female and it becomes the killer o the tank.

Females can be kept in "Sorority tanks". Generally in a large tank the girls will fight a bit until a pecking order is established. (Avoid groups of female smaller than 3.) Males are just antisocial towards other betta. Personally I always say 50 gallons per male, 5-10 per female, no less than 3 females. Just keep in mind aggression vary from betta to betta.
That said most male betta in tanks 10+ gallons are very peaceful, and are more likely to get picked on than the reverse. Females generally ignore other fish other than occasional chasing a fish out of their territory. Avoid aggressive fish or fin nipper like large tetra. Avoid showy finned fish that look like betta. (fancy guppy) Avoid slow fish as a male betta is a poor swimmer, and will often give up on a fish that out swimming him. Avoid gourami as they tend to act to much like a betta, and many gourami are aggressive.

two males in one typical aquarium tank will fight until one of them is dead.
I had two males in separate bowls next to each other and they would flare and try to get at the other through the glass. One of them died because of the stress.
You can try to group some females together, but I wouldn't put more than 3 in a typical sized aquarium. Don't even try to put 2 in a bowl, it's not enough room and they will just chase and fight each other.

males must be kept in a 1 betta only tank, no males and females together EVER, they're only together for breeding for 24-48 hours then seperated, they will rip each other to shreads otherwise. the only time i've heard of it working was in a 90 gallon community tank, and the owner got lucky with a passive pair.
females can be kept in sororitys of 5 or more girls, it needs to be 5 or more so they can work out a pecking order, so 10 gallons or more and lots of hiding places! and spare tanks in case any of the girls are overly aggressive.

the female fish drops the eggs, the male fish fertilizes the eggs, the eggs hatch. If given sufficient room on the terrific suited temperature with the terrific suited weight loss application, Bettas could be bred interior the aquarium. interior the wild, they are modern-day in large rice paddies the place there is a lot of room to swim around. this way, the fewer dominant male can get away from the dominant male. Bettas will kill each other. It is their instinct. They do not accept other males and will fight to the death if they come in contact. Start a diff tank... Bettas can live a very healthy, happy life in a 2 gallon fish bowl....

Yes, Siamese fighting fish/Bettas will fight eachother if they're male. Females can be put together. One Siamese fighting fish can be mixed with other fish. They usually only fight male vs male.

You can keep as many females as you have room for together, but no males with them and no two males together.
